Hi everyone! A lot of my friends my have known that I dropped out of the music scene for a bit while I’ve been taking care of my aging mother. Thankfully, she’s been doing a bit better and I’m starting to pick up my playing schedule.
Big changes…
Every few years I get the urge to do something different. While over the last three or four years my emphasis was on playing jazz, I’ve missed playing some good “rock and roll” shows. Over the last few months I’ve been talking with quite a few hard rock bands from all around the Bay Area. As of now I’m currently working with two bands, and possibly a third. This doesn’t mean that I will stop playing jazz. In fact, I also have quite a few songs that I hope to finish off by the end of summer for a new upcoming CD. It just means that I’m going to spend some time having some fun. The bands all have great energy and the music is really good. I’m also playing with some really talented people which makes it all the more special.
The future…
More than likely, sometime in the future I’ll move back to southern California. As much as I love the Bay Area, it makes more sense for me to be playing close to the industry. Plus, I love the weather and the beach!
Custom Basses?
As some of you know, I worked in the music industry for many years including long stints at Guitar Center, Nady Systems, Spitzer Music, and Thinkware to name a few. For a long time I’ve thought about building my own custom instruments. A few months ago my dream became a reality. I started putting together some of my own instruments and instantly knew that I had something special. I’ve already had quite a few inquiries into me building some of these spectacular instruments for some of my friends and I’ve decided to start “Prescott Guitars” and offer some of these on a very limited basis.
Once I have a few more built I’ll start posting them on their own site which will eventually be at www.prescottguitars.com
Other News…
I’ve been hired to work on an arrangement for an interesting political project. The client has a song keyed for the reelection campaign for President Obama. I’ll be arranging, producing and even playing on the track.
I’m still working with Jazz Sabor and Mestizo. I will also continue to sub with Crossfire whenever possible.
